Hey I may be an urban chick, but I love me some state fair! I was trying to go to a state fair all summer. In Illinois it takes a lot of work to go to Springfield from Chicago. I was thrilled to be in Louisville while conducting some nonprofit training. The Kentucky State Fair was five miles from my hotel! Woot!
The Kentucky State Fair was fabulous. I got to see:
- World’s Championship Saddlebred horse show with junior riders.
- Eight-mule hitch
- JUMP a freestyle dog show with a cast of rescue dogs
- Exhibit hall full of all things Kentucky
- 4H exhibits from farms throughout Kentucky
- Animal barns with swine, sheep, lamb and cows all being prepped and cared for by 4H students and their families – Listen to my Cinchcasts with 4H students!
My favorite food! BBQ Sundae! Pulled BBQ pork with smashed potatoes and gravy! Handy
to eat in a cup! Sorry, I avoided all the fried state fair food.
It was a beautiful night, clear and cool for a Charlie Daniels concert. A good time was had by all, including me! The American Farmer made this country what it is. The food we eat, the building of our country. Knowing where your food comes from is important. When you can, as much as you can, buy from your local farmer.
