WARNING – No fundraising will be spoken here.
Yes again a foodie post – but really this is more about the people than the food – which in equal proportion make for an amazing coming together.
This post is about our conversation – not about the food. I will just say it was amazing four hour farm to table dinner.
Side note: When you have a chef sit down with you, you ask politely what they recommend and hand them their menu back. Thank you, Chef Yard and team – everything WAS AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! The service was wonderful – and we were honored to meet the staff at City Perch who make it all happen. See below our meal and look at the items, how they are described and the ingredients – you’ll know Chef Yard put together a very well thought out menu.
Side note #2: Because we were all present in the conversation and eating and drinking – there was not one mobile phone in use or photo taken. For which we have no regrets.
In yesterday’s post I talked about a foodie day ending in an amazing meal at City Perch – hosted unexpectedly but Chef Sherry Yard, VP for Culinary Direction and Innovation at iPic Theaters, their restaurants and in movie dining.
After seeing Sherry in the afternoon and hearing about City Perch, I asked if my dear friend Melissa Wyers would like celebrate her birthday at City Perch. We had no idea what a memorable evening it would become.
As we walked to our table on the outdoor “perch” I mentioned seeing Sherry in the afternoon. “She’s here would you like to say hello?” Stunned I said, “Sure if she has time.” Looking around at a full restaurant with people waiting.
Sherry is gracious, funny and focused at the same time – in the same sentence. Her presence is one of conviction – about great food, treating and mentoring people, outstanding hospitality and forward movement. Anything that can or needs to get done will and done well.
Here we were, three accomplished women – talking about our lives, direction, overcoming obstacles, helping others and telling stories. We
shared experiences,
ate,
learned about Sherry’s plans for iPic,
ate,
mentoring others to be successful,
ate,
relationships/male and female,
ate,
synchronicity, karma,
ate,
going with the flow.
This idea of going with the flow (and directing the flow) resonated for all of us.
Are we driven career women – yes.
Have our career paths taken the “planned” route – no.
We attributed the success and challenges of our lives, work and enjoyment to our ability to go with the flow.
We
- adapt,
- enjoy if not seek out change,
- bounce back from set backs,
- make our own path and voice.
While we don’t silence critics, we carefully consider the source and take the advice accordingly. We have naysayers and champions – both contributed to where we are today.
Not surprisingly – great food and people can lead anywhere – just follow the bread crumbs.
